Happy Halloween-Spooky Inspiration

On our trip to New England earlier this fall we visited a few cemetaries from the 1600-1800. These images are a spooky selections of the wonderful and very old headstones we saw.

Nature is my springboard. From her I get my initial impetus. I have tried to relate the visible drama of mountains, trees, and bleached fields with the fantasy of wind blowing and changing colors and forms.

Tai Ping Ornaments

Here are some Christmas ornaments I made for our corporate Christmas tree donation to Harris Arts Center in Calhoun, GA. These were made (mostly) using recycled materials from our marketing department. Clockwise they are "Great Peace", simple cone ornaments, an oragami ornament, Tea Bags and a Monkey for the Chinese zodiac calendar. Here is the finished tree.

Reflection on an almost perfect vacation

It was almost perfect and the weather was superb! We had such a great time on the trip visiting with friends in Groton Mass and spending a part of a day in Boston. We took the infamous Duck Tour which we really enjoyed given our limited time in the city. I've seen these tours in various cities and always wanted to try one. Very fun, highly recommended! We stopped in Trinity Church which was beautiful and then had a great dinner at Davios . Part of the fun of this trip was seeing all the great historic architecture and cemeteries in New England. More on the cemeteries coming soon...have too keep that for next week!

We then spent the remainder of our trip in Maine visiting other friends in both Pemaquid and Belfast. We spent an almost full day on the boat in Pemaquid which was just incredible since it was so warm out. Followed by a dinner of fresh lobster and apple crisp to celebrate Jamie's birthday. After the first few days it got cooler and more fall like as we went further north the leaves on the trees were not quite peak but spectacular none the less. It was certainly a nature packed trip with the boat ride, walks on the beach and beautiful drives. We drove through Camden Maine and did a little shopping, wow was that a really beautiful town! I took a ton of photo's as I'm really trying to learn to use my dad's Cannon EOS 30D SLR. There were certainly a lot of photo opportunities and you can see all the pictures here . I hope I didn't annoy my friends too much with my constant straggling behind and wanting to photo document every detail. Anyways, quite perfect except for having to bed hop from location to location. Other than that you gotta go to Maine!

I stumbled across a great flickr group today Passionately Pink for the Cure In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Yahoo! is donating $1 to Susan G. Komen for the Cure for each pink photo added to this pool up to $50,000. I've added 4-5 and will add more when I find them. Please consider adding some, it's free to join flickr and it's a great cause!

3Yr Anniversary

We celebrated our 3 year anniversary with friends in Maine. We spent the day bumming around Belfast and other areas near. It was a quintessential Maine fall day (in my mind at least) with cool temperatures, overcast and brisk. Just what fall should be. More on our trip up North to come.

Fall colours tour-New England here we come!

I'm feeling like a little kid today as my last day before some much needed R~n~R. We head off tomorrow to MA and ME, to visit friends and see and smell the sites of a new england fall. I'm really looking forward to this, Maine is one of those places that you really can't help but to relax and that is just what I plan to do. I'm sure I come back with loads of inspiration, photo's and energy for the upcoming months festivities including the Final Harvest at Red Wiggler, hosting movie club, camping and Halloween (my favorite holiday...). See you soon.

Weekend with the Stripper-Furniture that is...

Okay I know that's quite a title for this entry but I couldn't resist. After running errands for part of the day Saturday we got down and dirty in our back yard with a stripper (citrus based no less) and our "new" dining room set. We brushed, scrubbed, scraped and sanded all 6 chairs and the table down to bare naked wood (almost). My hands are aching and my arms got a great workout and we are well on our way to having this done in time for Thanksgiving, which was the goal. Now we have to glue up some of the legs, stain, poly and re-upholster the chairs. The hardest part is done and boy was the weather gorgeous to be outside both days!
